No Wipes In the Pipes

We understand that desperate times call for desperate measures. But to keep your toilet and sewer pipes operating, make sure only to flush pee, poop and toilet paper!

See Troy Miller flush an airplane down the toilet and explain why that and even wipes labeled flushable shouldn't be flushed. Note: No sewer systems were harmed in the making of this video. Flushing scenes are purely fictional.

Using alternatives?

If you must use an alternative to toilet paper, dispose of it in the trash! Your sewer system is not designed to handle:

  • Wipes (even if they are labeled flushable).
  • Paper towels
  • Napkins
  • Facial tissues
  • Sanitary napkins
  • Diapers
  • Rags
  • Magazine paper
  • Socks
  • Any other item people around the country are flushing.

Some of these items may easily flush down your toilet, but they do not break down in the sewer system like toilet paper. Toilet paper is designed to tear apart and move easily through the sewer system. Other items being flushed clog pipes and pump stations and can lead to costly repairs and a public health risk.

Help keep critical services running

The current advice on social distancing for the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak includes not having visitors or nonessential workers in your home. Don't make it a necessity for a plumber to visit your home. Help keep critical services running as we work to slow the spread of coronavirus by flushing only pee, poop and toilet paper. Your toilet is not a trash can!

  • We know your home toilets likely are getting more use due to a greater number of people being home due to social distancing. We also know people may be flushing items they normally wouldn't flush. Please take this brief survey to help us learn the habits of our sewer customers. We'd like to find ways to improve our education program regarding caring for our sewer system and our environment. And we'd like to help ensure your toilets don't become clogged or cause overflows during this pandemic and after.

Please only flush pee, poop and toilet paper!
